Presentation of book and documentary about Aukštumala

We sincerely invite You to the presentation of book “Aukštumala: past, future, dreams“ and documentary movie, which will take place in the visitors center of State Service for Protected Areas  on 20th of March. The book describes natural values of Aukštumala, tells story about the daily life of  „mire villagers“ who used to live in the neighborhood of the mire until the end of 20th century , reveals the secret how easy natural habitats can be damaged and how difficult is to restore them.

The international earth day will be commemorated and documentary about Aukštumala will be shown during the presentation as well.

The International conference “Cumbria BogLIFE restoring peatlands developing best practice techniques” took place in Penrith, UK in 4-6th October, 2016. The conference brought together land managers, researchers and other peatland professionals to share experience, knowledge and discuss the development of best practice over the last 20 years from UK, Sweden, Denmark and the Baltic countries.

International workshop “Harvested and damaged peatlands: prospects of restoration and conservation”

On September 20-22th international workshop “Harvested and damaged peatlands: prospects of restoration and conservation” took place in Ventė village. About 60 participants from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, UK, Germany and Belarus representing scientific and official institutions, peat producers and naturalist took part in this event. The workshop was focused on benefits provided by restoration of peatlands and shape Lithuanian policy towards better policy of wetland conservation.
